I love I love summers in the White Mountains. They are so beautiful, and there are no places more beautiful no place more beautiful than Greer, Arizona. Oh my gosh, I love Greer. Yeah, we're really excited about it because 250 years of America and 50 years of the Greer Civic Association putting on uh Greer Days. And uh we've just got a whole big roster of events that starts uh Friday at four o'clock at everyone's favorite restaurant.

Um, so Friday, we are once again bringing back uh our mainstay desperados, and they will be joined for the second time by the Prescott regulators and their shady ladies, and they put on a big old fashioned shootout and story and uh do a great job with that. And then everyone is kind of free after that to go have dinner and do what they like to do on Friday nights. And uh then the following day on Saturday, which would be the thirteenth of June, we've got a lot of different events that uh start at seven. Um and uh the ones along Main Street start at nine. The seven o'clock is the fun run which uh Sandy is going to uh or the ten K, excuse me.

So it's a five K fun run.

Five five K fun run, okay. Uh so Sandy is gonna talk more about that. Um and then uh starting at nine, we have the Kids Zone, a silent auction, our big Main Street Parade, duck races, horse apple bingo, which I actually won one year.

It's it's in front of the rendezvous, and they put out different numbers, and then as the horses come off of the parade and they walk over a huge bingo card wherever they happen to relieve themselves. Is is how you uh that's the winning number.

So you go in and you buy you buy the numbers, or I'm not exactly sure, but you buy the numbers and then after the parade is over, they go out and they see what's been left behind, and if you picked the right number, you get a prize.

Now, is this is this big giant bingo card in the parking lot, is it uh prior to the um is it before the parade starts or at the end of the parade?

It's at the well at the end of the parade. They go the day before and they draw the uh bingo card in front of the rendezvous. They take it's a huge thing. Everybody looks at it and goes, what is this? Anyway, the horses, the parade goes through and after it's over, you know, GCA goes out and they look and they see where different things have been dropped by the horses.

Yeah, see, my horses always went at the beginning, like it at the be because they were nervous at the start of the parade or the or during the parade, yeah, yeah.

But just we've got horses throughout the throughout all of the parade, but when it's over, they run out and they look to see where where the cock out the horse cock out is.

That is going to be chocolate cream chocolate cream pies. Chocolate cream pies. Um, we were gonna do hot apple pies, but that kind of you know didn't really pass.

It did sound like a good idea. It's hard, it's hard to get it down fast. Yeah, I think the the chocolate cream is a good idea, and it's messy and fun. Everybody's gonna look that's gonna be great. Okay, I love that.

Yes, and there's a fun run, right, Sandy?

There is a fun run. Um, so the fun run supports the Dan E. Leeds Scholarship Fund, which all the proceeds go to give scholarships to younger. Well, I can't say younger people. I know that there have been very mature people that have won the scholarship, but these are people that train to be better firefighters. We start at 7 o'clock out at the Greer Lakes at River Reservoir. You can we're gonna be out there probably about 6, 6.30 getting everything set up. We suggest you sign up online at the GCA website. And you can do that or you can sign up at Molly Butler's. We suggest that you sign up on or before June 5th because that way you're guaranteed a shirt. You're guaranteed a medal. It's $30 for the first person and then $20 for the next person of your immediate family. And but if you choose not to, and you just you know, you get here on Friday night and you say, Hey, I want to go do that fun run tomorrow morning. Come on out. You can bring your dog, you can bring your stroller. I am I have a friend whose daughter rode her scooter through the whole thing. It's whatever you want because it is just a lot of fun and it's a beautiful morning.

Oh, that is perfect. We're gonna have our grandkids up that weekend, and I I just have to bring them. That would be fun for them to do. You know, that would be a great thing. And um, what have we missed? What other cool things, Keith?

And um you uh, you know, anyways, I'll tell you what, we'll visit after we get through here, and who knows, maybe that'll just have to happen.

I did it with Chris Bennett, the Sholo 4th of July parade, and that would that was a blast. Um, so you guys have all this great stuff going on. Tell me when for Greer Days, again, everybody, June 12th and 13th, and you want to do that fund run, the bet great benefit, and you want to see all the great places in town in Greer there, and Greer's gonna be crowded and beautiful like always. And we all want to be really, really careful too, and be mindful of the fire danger, you know, because we're in June. We all want to be extra, extra careful because of course Greer saw that fire that they had last year, and uh, we want to be super, super respectful and careful and really think, think, think, right? That's gonna be a big one.

Yeah, very dry year. We're good. But we're supposed to have a really good monsoon season. It's like supposed to be a super mons a super El Nino, so we'll see what happens with that. We'll take it. It would be nice. Let's hope so, yeah. And um, so I want to ask you, where online can they find all this information? What Facebook pages, what uh websites, that kind of thing.

So I know that if you go onto Facebook, you can find everything. It's uh the GCA, uh Greer Civic Association webpage. Um sorry, Facebook page. You can also go on to Molly Butler Lodge's uh Facebook page because we I we follow that pretty close. And then you can go on to the G and I think both of those will direct you to the GCA website page, which is where you can um sign up online. And once again, if you want to come in to Molly's or pretty much any of the businesses um in town, you can pretty much um probably sign up or find out any of the information you need. Um do we have a couple of minutes here, Janine? Because I'd like to thank a couple of the people. Yes, go right in here. We have some really great people that donate to help with the fun run. Um I I know I'm gonna miss a I don't I don't want to miss a lot of people, but there I'm just gonna go with we have a lot of the local businesses that jump in and help. I'm not really gonna name it because I don't want to miss somebody. We're just very fortunate to have the great little uh village of Greer. I think we all pull together and we all support each other. And we want to make Greer Days a fun time for all the people that come. I know I have people that come in and they go, I remember coming to Greer Days when I was just a kid, and it is fun to hear all of their stories about Greer Days and just about Greer. I mean, come on, John Wayne coming to town. What's better than that?

Yes, yes, and it's just it's a great time in Greer, and we want to, you know, on all that history, all the beautiful history, like um, and what I love is, you know, of course, out at X Diamond Ranch, Wink Krigler, you know, go meet the gal that's in the Cal N Cowboy Hall of Fame, and then go to Greer and that to oh my gosh, I love you saying the village of Greer. That's exactly what it is. It's so adorable, so charming. And yeah, if you haven't like booked your rooms yet, you guys they might be all filled up right now, but yeah, try to try to get a spot. But yeah, there you go. Greer Days is just a great and it's such a short drive from Sholo if you're staying in Sholo, Pine Top or Lakeside. But we love Greer Days. It is planting season. It's time to get our plants in the ground. And that means it's time for your annual plant sale. Tell us about that.

That's right, Janine. It's happening on Saturday, June 6th from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the community garden on 520 North Ninth Place. It's right off the deuce. Um anyway, it's going to, we're gonna have all these heirloom veggies that we've been growing for the last couple of months, um different varieties of flowers and all the herbs, and we've been doing house plants as well. So these are all grown, yeah, by our community garden members. And the plant sale is again on Saturday, June 6th. And not only are we gonna have plants, but we'll have food trucks there, vendors there, a raffle, a silent auction, sourdough. We're being doing soil testing. I know it's gonna be really, really a great event, and it's a it's a huge fundraiser for our community garden.

That's right, which is a 501c3, and it's just a great, great, great opportunity. And um also the kids gardeners are gonna start. Tell us about that.

Yeah, we think it's super important that kids learn how to grow and where their food comes from. And so we offer a free children's gardening series every summer. It's gonna kick off on June 13th. It's gonna be on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. And um we're gonna cover topics like seed starting and planting starts, but also fun things that kids love, like the worms and the butterflies and birds and bugs and the bugs. Yeah, and then they learn how to harvest, and yeah, it's gonna be super fun and it's free. You just have to sign your kiddos up for that at wmcgarden.org. Go to our website, register them. So we also include a crafting project with those and we want to make sure we have the right amount of supplies.

Right amount of supplies for the kids. And then one last thing. What if someone wants to become a member of the White Mountain Community Garden?

We would love to have you. We love all skill levels. If you've never gardened before, we will take you. If you have experience, we will take you. But it's $40 a year to be a member of the community garden. Um you can volunteer a couple hours a week if you like. You can rent your own space if you want to grow your own thing there. But if you just want to learn, we have a great program for you. And you just come volunteer your time and then you get to share in the produce at the end of the season. So it's beautiful.

All right, this is gonna happen on June 19th, which is a Friday from 2 to 5 30. We're gonna have uh live horses, we're gonna have arts and crafts for the kids, line dancing, some cowboy games, uh kid activities for the kids, and food trucks and some vendors that are being will be selling things like leather holsters and hobby horses and anything Western related. And then right after the event, we are having a concert, uh, International Western Music Association, uh with Ashley Westcott from Taylor. Uh she's been singing in Nashville and various places. And then also we're having Dan McCorison, who is currently the Arizona chapter president of the International Western Music Association. So just a full day from two till the concert starts at six. And uh come on out and celebrate with us the Western Heritage.
